NASA Space Apps Challenge 2024

This was a golden chance to learn something new.

The problem

NASA Space Apps is a worldwide hackathon. In October 2024 I entered through the local event in Stalowa Wola, Poland, with a team of four: me, my mom, my uncle and his partner. I saw a topic that interested me: biochemistry. I’d never touched it before, but I figured, what’s a better place to test out a completely new topic than a NASA Space Apps Challenge? I had access to professionals, teachers, professors and doctors, people who literally work with this kind of thing. And doing something I already know about wouldn’t be as interesting.

What I did

I designed the planet and the ecosystem that the life was supposed to exist in.

What came of it

We submitted, we didn’t place, and I got a participant certificate as well as a plaque. What stayed with me was the subject. Afterward, I changed to biology as my advanced subject, as my school didn’t have advanced chemistry.
